Biography
Alena Bányaiová has focused on commercial law, in particular the sphere of contracts, including complex works contracts, construction and administrative proceedings, arbitration proceedings and litigation. She is listed as a member of the Czech Bar Association and the International Bar Association. She speaks Czech and English.
Ms. Bányaiová is one of the top experts in dispute settlement in the Czech Republic. She is an arbitrator at the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic and is a member of the Presidium of the Arbitration Court. Ms. Bányaiová is also active in the legislative field; in 2004-2006 she was a member of the Legislative Council of the Government of the Czech Republic and is currently a member of the Committee for Private Law of the Legislative Council of the Government of the Czech Republic. She was also a member of the Re-codification Committee. Ms. Bányaiová is further active in the academic sphere; she lectures on commercial law issues for international students in the LLM and Socrates/Erasmus programs organized by the Law School at Charles University in Prague and on civil law issues at West Bohemian University’s Law School. She has published many articles on various topics relating to commercial law.
Alena is repeatedly listed as a leading expert in the area of dispute settlement, corporate and competition law by the prestigious independent publications Chambers and Legal 500.
